Daniel Mawuli Quist is a board member of The Or Foundation, a charity based in Kantamanto Market, Accra: the largest secondhand clothing market in the world. Within his work ‘Dead White Man’, Jeremy has collaborated with this group on their Stop Waste Colonialism campaign. It calls for a transition away from the dumping of textile waste on the Global South, a transition from a linear to a circular economy, environmental regeneration and dignified economic opportunities.
Alongside his work with The Or Foundation, Mawuli is also an entrepreneur, maker, stylist, storyteller, and the founder of Defortyfive lifestyle Gallery in Ghana. He is an expert at rehabilitating and upcycling accessories from Kantamanto, especially hats and eyewear. He also works with craftspeople throughout Ghana to create objects that tell stories and that explore sustainability from a West African perspective.
