Overview

Liam Howe (born 1970, Hartlepool) is multidisciplinary artist and musician who lives and works in London.

Having studied Fine Art at Reading University (1990-1994), Howe had his first solo art show (curated by Frieze’s Tom Gidley) at London’s Cut Gallery in Waterloo (1995). During this artistic emergence Howe’s musical career was also burgeoning and his band Sneaker Pimps garnered a worldwide recording deal with Virgin Records (1996) The group had global success, selling several million records, and touring internationally for nearly a decade (1996-2005).

Alongside his musical output Howe setup a ‘concept club’ at the ICA in London (‘Home Taping’ 2001-2004) and exhibited sound installation including a piece for the opening of the CCA in Glasgow (2001).

Howe is a world-renowned music producer, working with often high profile musicians (Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs and Adele 2010-2024) and he has composed for award winning films (Obselidia 2009 Sundance winner). He is currently working on sound art installations which deal with the paradoxes of self-worth and loneliness in present-day society. These recent projects galvanise his multidisciplinary approach and his decades of experience at the forefront of commercial creativity. For Howe, there is no distinguishing between his art and his music - his creative practice is one united whole.
